Detectives investigating after 15 year old boy shot in face
Merseyside Police has recovered three firearms and a number of bullets in Kirkdale last night (Monday, July 23).
Officers on patrol in the area discovered a shotgun, a submachine gun and a small handgun along with 40 9mm rounds of ammunition and 29 shotgun cartridges on land off Commercial Road.
The action demonstrates the Force's commitment to taking guns off the streets of Merseyside and follows the robust action taken by officers after the injury shooting in Kirkdale on Saturday night in which two males sustained shotgun injuries to their faces.
DS Steve McGrath from the Matrix team said: "Today's recovery is part of our ongoing commitment to ridding our communities of firearms and the associated fear they cause.
"We are keen to hear from anyone with any information about where weapons are being stored so we can seize them and take them out of harm's way.
"We act on all information we receive and appeal to members of the public to call us, anonymously if preferred, so we can stop criminals from jeopardising the safety of our communities."
Anyone with any information is asked to call Matrix on 0151 777 5699, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
This comes after a double shooting in Kirkdale in the early hours of Sunday, where a 15 year old boy was shot in the face, and a man in his 20's was also shot
