Six flats targeted as rubbish set on fire

Police are appealing for witnesses following an arson incident in Runcorn

The incident took place on 7th March at around 7pm in The Knoll.

It is believed that someone has approached the communal bin area of 6 flats and set fire to a small amount of discarded rubbish.

The fire service extinguished the blaze, which caused smoke damage to the flats and the communal area.

DC Neal Davison said: "Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of the incident but the consequences could have potentially been far worse had the fire not been put out so quickly.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, knows who is responsible, or has any information, which might assist with their enquiries, to get in touch.

"We are also appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and has seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact us."

Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 781 of 7 March.

Information can also be passed on anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
