The borough will be bursting with bunting, tea, cake and a whole lot more for the Diamond Jubilee in June.
And jubilee spirit is alive and well in Warrington as more than 15,000 people are taking part in a fantastic 81 local street parties and thanks to residents this is one of the highest number of parties for a town or city in the North West.
The council was delighted to be inundated with requests for local street parties and due to the high numbers, decided to reschedule it's giant town centre party, which was originally planned for the same weekend, to Saturday 9 June so that everyone could enjoy both events.
Excited residents are gearing up for what will be a jam-packed day of celebrations, with everything from fancy dress to magicians to donkey rides taking place all over the town.
Neighbourhoods will be buzzing with activity, with picnic lunches, sporting events, hot pot suppers, bingo and charity cake sales.
Some will be serving traditional English tea while others are gathering for a giant musical bash.
As well as the dozens of street parties and barbecues, there are also some unusual celebrations taking place with wizardry events and body zorbing.
And it doesn't end there as there are many other groups who have special events planned including children's centres, residential care homes, community day care services, youth café, schools and Walton Hall and many more so the whole community really is involved in the celebrations.
Cllr Terry O'Neill, leader of the council said: ”Warrington's response to the jubilee has been tremendous and we are so proud that so many people are taking the time and effort to come together and celebrate this historic event. Neighbours, family, and friends will congregate and celebrate in style at what looks to be a spectacular day for Warrington!
The giant town centre extravaganza will take place on Saturday 9 June 10-4pm with spitfires, a parade of giant queens and much more. Check out the council website for more details http://www.warrington.gov.uk/
To help support community events throughout Cheshire, the Westminster Foundation donated funding to the Cheshire Community Foundation, £10 000 of which is helping to fund the 81 street parties and town centre event.
