Sitaleki Akauola Pens 2-Year Contract Extension At Warrington

Warrington Wolves are delighted to announce that prop forward Sitaleki Akauola has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the club until November 2021.

Akauola, 27, joined Warrington ahead of last season, making his debut in February 2018. He has made 38 appearances in the primrose and blue to date and holds heritage number 1142.

The explosive ball-carrier and Tongan international signed for the Wire from NRL side Penrith Panthers having previously played for Wests Tigers.

On his contract extension Akauola said: “I am very grateful for the opportunity that Warrington have given me to experience playing a sport I love, in a place I never thought I'd get to see (UK). Since I first started here everyone has made me feel so welcome. I call Warrington my English home. From the town, to the squad and our supporters who we embrace, it is really good to be a part of. We have a number of ‘old’ heads in the group with a lot of experience, always sharing their wisdom among the playing group as well as some exciting youngsters always willing to learn and take things on board. It’s a pleasure to work with everyone here. I know with the group of boys we have here, we can make and earn something special, not only for us but for our families and friends, past and present, and for everyone who has put blood, sweat and tears into the primrose and blue jersey. One of the many reasons why I extended my contract was to hopefully help create something special and give back to those who come to support me and the boys week in week out.”

Head coach Steve Price added: “It’s pleasing to get Sita re-signed. He’s settled into Warrington really well. He’s very happy at the club and is an integral part of our squad. He’s very well respected within our group and is a great role model on and off the field. We feel there’s a lot more to come from him and look forward to seeing what he can add to the team over the next couple of years.”
