Police say they believe it was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the wider community.

At around 9.09am on Saturday 11 January a grey Audi stopped on Monks Place in Fairfield and Howley.

Two men, both wearing yellow high visibility jackets, got out of the car and one of them was seen firing a number of shots.

Both men then got back into the Audi and drove off.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident and enquires are ongoing.

Superintendent Gareth Lee said: “We understand that incidents of this nature are concerning and I would like to reassure the public that we are doing all that we can to establish exactly what has taken place.

“At this time we believe that this is a targeted incident and there is no risk to the wider community.

“As part of our enquiries were keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information which may aid our investigation.

“The same goes for anyone who believes that they may know who the offenders are, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them arriving at or leaving the scene.

“Patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide reassurance and I urge anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to an officer.”
