Appeal For Information After Masked Men Target Widnes

Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward after three masked men targeted an address in Widnes.

At around 12.45am on Wednesday 29 May three unknown men forced entry into an address on Edward Street, Widnes.

Once inside the property they assaulted the occupant, a 68-year-old man, and threatened him with a large knife - demanding that he handed over all his money.

The men then fled the scene in the direction of Castle Street, taking with them a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The three offenders are all believed to be men, they were all wearing dark clothing, ski masks and gloves.

Detective Constable Jordan Trentini said: “Thankfully the victim in this case did not sustain any serious injuries as a result of his ordeal.

“However, understandably he has been left extremely shaken up and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the men responsible and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and I am keen to hear from anyone with any information, no matter how small, which may assist our investigation.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone with any CCTV footage or any drivers with dashcam footage who were driving in the Edward Street, Castle Street and Warrington Road areas between 12.30am and 1am on Wednesday 29 May.

“I ask anyone with any information or footage that may be relevant to our investigation to contact the team here at Widnes on 101, quoting IML 413878.”
