A new multi-million pound road project designed to ease congestion in Warrington has moved a step forward
Councillors gave the green light for the project to be funded at a meeting last night.
The scheme will cost nearly £20 Million Pounds and will include a bridge over the River Mersey from Chester Road.
Work could begin as soon as this summer.
Executive Board member for highways Hans said
"If you want to travel across town without going through town you can quite easily use this road from Chester Road so we should see some reduction in congestion in the town centre area.
"This will be a river crossing that will reduce traffic which we are really pleased with and it's something people have wanted for a long long time"
Around 500 homes will also be built as part of the scheme.
