Police Appeal Following Convenience Store Burglary In Warrington

Detectives are appealing for information from the public following a burglary at a convenience store in Warrington.

At around 11.10pm last night, Thursday 28 February, a group of three or four men broke into The Co-operative Food shop on Common Lane via its roof.

The offenders stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes from inside the store.

They also made an unsuccessful attempt to break into its cash machine before fleeing the shop at around midnight.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area on the night of the burglary, or on previous nights, to come forward.

They also want to hear from anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them, either on foot or in a vehicle.

Detective Constable Ian Morris said: “Thankfully the offenders were unable to break into the ATM but they did steal a quantity of cash and cigarettes from inside the store.

“We are determined to identify the offenders and bring them to justice.

“Enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the burglary or believes they may have seen the offenders in the area.

“Perhaps you saw men acting suspiciously in the area before the burglary took place, either on the night of the burglary or on previous nights.

“Or maybe you saw the offenders fleeing the area after the burglary had taken place, either on foot or in a vehicle.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who believes they might know the identities of the offenders or have dashcam or CCTV footage of them or a vehicle they may have been in.”

Anyone with information or CCTV footage that may help the investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 334555, give the details via https://cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Dashcam footage can be submitted online at www.cheshire.police.uk/advice-and-support/roads-and-vehicle-safety/submit-dashcam-footage.
