Thief leaves Widnes post office empty handed

Police are appealing for information after an attempted theft in Widnes

Staff at the post office in Bechers in Hough Green reported that a man had entered the shop and told them he wanted money putting in a carrier bag he had with him. 

When staff refused, he left empty handed.  There was no sign of any weapon and no members of staff were injured.

The offender left on foot turning right out of the premises and down a path.

The man is described as being in around 5ft 8 − 5ft 10, of medium build, in his 30s and spoke with a local accent.  He was wearing a dark green jacket, jeans, blue trainers and a black mask.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have any information which might identify the offender, to call 101
