Police and other emergency services remain at the scene of a road traffic collision on the M56 near Runcorn.
Sadly, police can now confirm that the collision resulted in two fatalities.
There is no further information in relation the deceased at this time and more information will become available in due course.
The collision occurred at approximately 12 midday and early indications are it involves a bus carrying no passengers, two heavy goods vehicles and a car.
The motorway is now open on the Westbound carriageway following a full closure, and police are hoping to open one carriageway Eastbound within the next hour.

Motorists are advised the incident to ongoing and there is significant congestion affecting the M56, Runcorn expressways and the A56 into Frodsham. Police are advising motorists to seek alternative routes.
