A Widnes man was among three people who appeared in court this morning (Fri) for the first time accused of the murder of a Liverpool teenager found stabbed to death in a front garden in Speke.
17-year-old Brandon Regan was found dead outside a home in Critchley Road on January 29 and a major investigation into his death was subsequently launched by police.
22-year-old Jack Butterworth, of Finsbury Park, Widnes, 33-year-old Ryan Buckley, of Withington Road, Speke; and 24-year-old Steven Jones, of no fixed address but formerly of Netherley, all face of a charge of murder.
The Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, remanded the trio in custody until January 4 when they are expected to enter their pleas. A date for a trial, expected to last three weeks, was fixed to begin on April 8.
A large number of supporters filled the public gallery at Liverpool Crown Court for the ten minute hearing. The defendants’ solicitor Brian Jackson told the judge that there was no application for bail for any of the men at this stage though that situation was likely to change at least for one of them.
A 32-year-old man from Speke and a 25-year-old man from Speke, who were also arrested after raids yesterday in connection with Brandon’s death, have been released by police.
