Witness Appeal Following Widnes Botched Burglary

Detectives from Widnes are appealing for information and footage from members of the public following a burglary incident in the town.

At around 6.40pm on Friday 15 November two men activated a burglar alarm as they broke into a house in Churchfields when no-one was at home.

After failing to turn off the alarm the offenders fled empty-handed.

They were both wearing dark clothing. One of them had a padded jacket and a hat on.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious to come forward.

They also want to speak to anyone who believes they may know who the offenders are, or have CCTV or dashcam footage of them.

Detective Constable Stuart Clay, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “Burglary is a serious offence in which victims are targeted in their own home, which is the place they should be able to feel most safe.

“Thankfully, on this occasion the house had a burglar alarm which was activated and the offenders fled empty-handed.

“The offenders may go on to target other homes and so we are determined to establish their identities and make them face the consequences of their actions.

“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone who was in the area and believes they may have seen the offenders, either before they broke into the house in Churchfields or as they were fleeing the scene, to get in touch with us here at Widnes Police Station.

“The same goes for anyone who believes they may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the offenders, or information regarding their identities.”

Anyone with any information or footage that may be relevant to the investigation should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 565790, give the details via https://www.cheshire.police.uk or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
