Woman Charged With Assaulting Three People In Widnes Has Been Released On Unconditional Bail

Woman charged with assaulting a five-year-old girl and two police officers in Widnes

At Warrington Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 4 February, Sharon Bennett was released on unconditional bail.

She is set to return to the court on Tuesday 26 February.

A 58-year-old woman from Widnes has been charged with assaulting three people in the town.

Sharon Bennett, of Townley Court, was remanded in custody and appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court today.

She has been charged with one count of assault by beating and two counts of assault by beating an emergency service worker.

The charges relate to two incidents in Widnes town centre on Saturday 2 February.

The first incident, which occurred in Albert Square Shopping Centre at around 1.30pm, involved a five-year-old girl from Widnes.

The other, which occurred on Albert Road at around 1.45pm, involved two police officers who were responding to reports of the first incident.

The victims all sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
