About Tony Horne
Tony has been one of the biggest names on radio in the North over the last couple of decades and joined us here in February 2011.
He began doing 7 to midnight on Devonair and Plymouth Sound in 1991 whilst doing a degree in French and Italian at Exeter University. He received the colossal sum of £25 for 5 hours on air!
After that he moved to GWR FM across Bristol, Bath and Wiltshire where the Tony Horne In The Morning Show began in 1993, moving to Metro Radio in 1996 where he remains a legend.
In 2000, he fronted up Century FM’s breakfast show across the Northwest so if you think you’ve heard him before, that’s probably where.
He returned to Metro in 2004 staying until 2011 when he finally gave up doing breakfast shows after 18 years!
When he is not on the radio, you will spot him at the various Great Runs around the country (2015 is his 11th Great North Run) and most nights of the year he tweets shocking pictures of his chiminea and his BBQ!
He is also a prolific ghostwriter, penning memoirs for anyone and everyone from the late PC David Rathband to the first X Factor winner Steve Brookstein. You can check him out at www.tonyhornebooks.com
